A couple of weeks ago, my friend Tina and I hit up Relish for a very-needed lunch date! I hadn’t seen her ever since I told her I was pregnant. I’d been drooling over Relish’s Instagram account for weeks already and had my appetite back so I was thrilled when we met up for lunch and shared some dishes. The place is stunning and everything we tried was prepared with local, fresh ingredients that you could taste in every bite. I can’t wait to be back and bring my hubby!I love all the natural light in this bright, white space!
This third trimester in my pregnancy has been hard but at least food tastes so good again! I couldn’t wait to try Relish’s popular fried chicken sandwich and their brown butter vanilla bean rice krispy treats. I also got to try two more mouth watering dishes that I’ll definitely be coming back for!
This was a special treat (because it’s not available at lunch-time) we got to try first before our salad arrived and it can be classified as the best one bit I’ve ever had—–EVER! This is Relish’s Deviled Egg topped with a crispy fried chicken thigh piece and a maple glaze. If there was ever an elevated version a deviled egg, this is it! They’re available during their Happy Hour menu for only $1 and on their Dinner menu.
As soon as I scoped the menu I knew I wanted to start with their Peach and Ricotta Salad which yes, tastes as dreamy as it sounds. The menu describes it as: Acre in a Box greens, fresh peaches, ricotta, house granola, prosciutto di San Danielle, peach champagne vinaigrette. The salad is savory and sweet, the granola is made in house by the owners mom (can you please bag this and sell it so I can have it at home with my yogurt!?) and the greens are harvested every morning. It’s one of the best salads I’ve ever had and it’s very big so you can share!
Their Crispy Chicken Sandwich is popular for a reason: it’s soooooo good! I mean, look at all those layers! The secret behind their deliciousness (besides that it’s a perfectly built sandwich), they use a flavorful chicken thigh instead of a chicken breast for their sandwich. The sandwich also includes RELISH pickles, tarragon ranch sauce, cheddar, lettuce and tomato on a toasted bun. We ordered a side of hand cut french fries because they came with a side of house-made garlic aioli and we couldn’t stop eating them. I ate half of my sandwich and took the rest home because it’s a BIG sandwich!
No meal is complete without dessert in my book and I love rice krispy treats so the dessert choice was a no-brainer. Their brown butter Mexican vanilla rice krispy is scrumptious and I ate every last bite of it (mostly because I didn’t want to share with the hubby when I got home! LOL).
On my taste wish list the next time I’m here (and not pregnant!): their Blackberry Lime Frosé which was included in the Houston Chronicle round-up of frozen cocktails you have to try this summer!
Visit their website for all their menu offerings and to stay up to date with their soon to come Weekend Brunch which you know I’ll be checking out!
