Product Review: Boscia Bright White Mask

I haven’t used peel-off masks in the longest time. The last one I used was a Cucumber Peel-Off by Freemans (do you all remember this super favorite 90’s drugstore brand?) and I remember it being super entertaining to slough off your skin and it felt more like a fun thing to do on a Friday night than an actual ritual to follow for beautiful skin.

The Boscia Peel-Off Mask

Why I Tried It: The allure of this white peel-off by Boscia is that it’s creamy and white. I also think it’s very unusual for a peel off mask to not dry up clear like this one; this one dries up like a second very shiny and white layer on your skin. It promises instant radiance and hydration which is a trend I’m detecting where products promise instant results whether after applying and removing the mask or overnight.

The Good: Boscia is a brand I have not used in the past but I’m glad to know they don’t put any chemical preservatives in their products. The creamy mask doesn’t really have a smell and goes on smoothly. You have to spread a thin layer over your face taking acre of not putting anything close to your hairline, eyebrows, or lips or you will be ripping out your eyebrows at the end of this process. DO NOT put a thick layer of the mask on your face or it will hurt even more when you take it off.

The Ugly: I waited 20 minutes as instructed to rip it off and it hurt, a lot. You’re supposed to peel it starting from the outer edges but I totally forgot and just started tugging wherever the mask felt looser. I removed any excess of the product with lukewarm water. My skin was very red and looked irritated but after 10 minutes I could definitely see a glow on my face. The act of pulling the mask off your face makes it feel like its literally getting rid of a yucky layer of your skin and that feels great! I immediately followed up with my serum and moisturizer.

The Verdict: I don’t think I’ll be using this mask again because I definitely enjoy the muddy masks that wash off gently with warm and don’t tear at my skin. If I use it again and succumb to the pain I will let you know. I always say beauty is pain but maybe I’m getting too old for that!
