Pink and red is one of my favorite classic color combinations. My grandmother once had her portrait painted by an artist that took the liberty of placing her in a pink and red ensemble, something that according to her, would never happen because she preferred dressing in powdery pastels. She secretly hated it and I reluctantly agreed with her because I secretly loved it! That memory totally inspired this outfit.
Outfit Details:
Pants: The Pixie Pants from old Navy are a must in the closet of any curvy girl. They have the right amount of stretch and rise just above your belly button and avoids any muffin top action. They’re perfect for work because they are very tailored but are also great for a weekend because they are unbelievably comfortable: a combination too good to pass up for a mere $25 (on sale for a limited time!). (Tip: Go ahead and toss them in your washer and lay them flat to dry. DO NOT toss them in the dryer because they will shrink. )
Shirt: This is a favorite style of mine from Express: The Portofino shirt. I have it in like 20 different colors, prints and styles. They are breezy enough for summer but look great bundled up in scarves and layered with tank tops and necklaces. I’m wearing their sleeveless style in this photo.
Necklace: From one of my favorite boutiques in Houston: Pomp and Circumstance. I’m warning you though, if you visit their store you will not leave empty handed.
Shoes: Steve Madden
Purse: Kate Spade
I wore this outfit to one of my favorite brunch sports in Houston: Tiny Boxwoods. Their brunch menu is epic and filled with choices like Breakfast Pizza and Buffalo Burgers (my hubby’s favorite) but ends at 3pm on Sundays. Good news: Their mimosas are bottomless and they have the most succulent, just baked chocolate chip cookies that you won’t ever want to share.
Would you wear this outfit to brunch? Do you like the red and pink combination?
