The Cottage Shop: Shopping Haul

Let’s rewind to a week ago when I first stepped into The Cottage Shop in Montrose and I didn’t know what to expect from this rumored treasure trove that PR guru and owner of Zulu Creative, Tina Zulu, had told me so much about. Once I stepped in and explored this cozy and hidden gem I discovered it’s full of gently-worn designer pieces, baubles galore and the latest clutches and bucket bags. The best part? All your shopping cardio will generate 20% of The Women’s Home operating income.

The Women’s Home

The Women’s Home has been helping women women for 60 years build whole lives. They offer women, many who are homeless, lack job skills or education due to substance abuse and mental illness,—– a home and a model of care called Whole Life. Their programs programs offer a solution to women who seek a safe, sober and drug-free community where they can recognize and reach their unique potential for success. (via The Women’s Home)

Now tell me, is there any better reason to shop than knowing that you’ll be directly helping another woman restore their lives?

My New-Found Love For The Cottage Shop

IMG_8481 copyI love how the store is very well-curated and organized so you’ll definitely get a boutique feel when you step in. From jewelry, to house-ware, vintage clothing, casual clothing for men and women, shoes and the tad-bit more expensive ’boutique section’ (where you can score brands like Escada or Tory Burch) there is really no way you’ll be walking out of The Cottage Shop empty-handed.

Don’t think that this shop is a new venture! This unique boutique has been around since 1971 in the Montrose area and it serves as a job training site for residents, provides a fun shopping experience for the community.
